Therapy for Young Adults Who Feel Stuck
They're not lazy. They're not broken. They just haven't done it yet.
Nobody warns you that early adulthood is the hard part. Career, money, relationships, identity, independence, all landing at once, usually while you're carrying something you've never quite named. You're supposed to have it figured out. Nobody showed you how.

About "failure to launch"
Some people call this stretch "failure to launch." It's nobody's favorite phrase, and I don't love it either. But it's what a lot of worried parents type into Google at 2am, so let's name it: a young adult who has moved back home, or never quite left, and can't seem to get going. Stalled at school or work. Sleeping late. Avoiding the conversation. Saying "I'm fine."
Here's my take after more than 20 years: it's rarely laziness. Usually it's avoidance of a feeling, often anxiety or a fear of failing, that's easier to dodge than to face. That's workable. It just takes someone who won't lecture.

We start where you are, not where you think you should be.
We get honest about what's keeping you stuck. Then we work on real ways forward, at a pace that respects where you are instead of acting like you should have had this figured out three years ago.
A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new.
The goal isn't a perfect plan. It's a life that feels more manageable and more like your own.

If your adult child won't get help
If your young adult won't move out, won't get help, or won't talk about it, you can still get support. I'm just as happy working with a parent for a few sessions while their young adult comes around. Often that's what gets things moving.
